Australia defeats West Indies

Australia defeated the spirited West Indies yesterday in the league stage of champions trophy encounter. With this defeat West Indies is virtually out of the tournament except for a miracle. Australia batting first managed to score 275 which at one stage looked improbable. But mitchell jhonson, the ever improving all rounder, scored a magnificient 73 and Ponting scored 79 to take them to a competitve total. The second string West Indies team was well placed chasing at 124 for 1. The runout of  Fletcher who scored 54 at this stage was the turning point for the game. West Indies lost wickets at regular intervals and lost the chase by 50 runs. Miller for WI and Watson for AUS were the heroes in bowling department. Johnson was declared the Man of the Match.
