The Twenty20 Champions League is an international Twenty20 cricket competition between clubs from India, Australia, England, South Africa, Sri Lanka, New Zealand and West Indies. The Twenty20 Champions League is chaired by Lalit Modi, who is the Chairman and Commissioner of the Indian Premier League and Vice-President of the BCCI.

The competition was launched in 2008 as a response to the success of IPL and other Twenty20 domestic cricket leagues across different cricket playing nations. The first edition was set to take place from late September to early October 2008 in India, after the tournament organisers resolved various teething problems that had put the inaugural tournament under some doubt but 26/11 mumbai attacks became the biggest hurdle which the organisers couldn’t surpass.

An extravagant tournament with 12 teams and a pool of 100 international players is on the way to be held in hyderabad, bangalore and delhi this october.Surprisingly, Delhi Daredevils won a spot because of their table top performance in league games, though it arised a large debate as no playoff match for 3rd position was played.
IPL governing body has now decided to add an additional match from next IPL between losers in semifinals to decide the crucial 3rd spot which gets eligibility to play next edition of champions league.
