usa flagStrange piece of news is that American Sports and Entertainment Group is all set to launch the American Premier League (APL) on the similar lines of Indian Premier League (IPL).  It would feature six teams namely; Premium Americans, Premium Bangladeshis, Premium World, Premium Indians, Premium Paks and Premium Windies. Many big names in international cricket have been roped in for this tournament. Cricket is still in its hatching stages in U.S.A and the organisers believe that this tournament is going to be a big boost for Cricket in the country.

It is a less known fact that cricket was played in America some 150 years back. But by the start of 20th century, all the loyalities of cricket including players, clubs, franchisees and more importantly the audience shifted towards Baseball. Cricket was dormant and in many places was extinct for nearly 100 years. Since late 1990’s cricket started to re-emerge in the American Continent. It hit a road block for a brief period in 2007 as USACA (United states of America Cricket Association) was suspended due to an internal dispute. But all this was settled in an year and soon it was back to cricket.

With the start of APL from October this year some re-engineering of interest among the American audience in a sport called Cricket can be expected. Also, with good number of Indians, people from South East Asian Countries, Windies present in USA, a competitive and popular tournament  is on the cards. The matches will start from October 6th and end on October 24th.
