Delhi Daredevils powered by in form Dilshan and motivated Karthik handed over the first pink slip to Deccan Chargers. Delhi was in driver’s seat throughout the game except for a brief period when Devon Smith fought a lone battle for DC to salvage some pride.

dirkDC had the worst start of the season, with score reading just 8; it lost its in-form skipper Adam Gilchrist. Soon the team slipped to 53 for 4 in just 9.2 overs. It was some inspired bowling by Nannes (2-16) and the spin duo of Mishra and Vettori that helped check the Explosive Chargers batting line-up. After the strategy break Smith (48) with the company of Suman (23) and Venugopal Rao (16) managed to notch up a respectable total. 149 though not safe, but gave chargers something to fight for.

dilshanDelhi started of confidently with Gambhir and Sehwag in need of a partnership for long time now. Sehwag (20) hit 4 fours before he perished to some irresponsible stroke play. The lone centurion this season DeVillers and Gautam Gambhir also could not get going. It was the left to the “Crisis Manger of Delhi” Dilshan and free flowing Karthik. The good thing about Dilshan’s batting is he doesn’t throw his wicket away and makes sure he stays till the end of the innings. Dilshan concluded the chase fittingly with a six of Fidel Edwards who had a few anxious movements before the last ball.

Result: Delhi wins by 6 wickets.

Man of the Match: Dirk Nannes

Verdict: Delhi Daredevils and Deccan Chargers are tied at 8 points on top of the table with DC leading with a better run rate.
