India, king of Asia!

A team effort sees India lift the Asia Cup after 15 long years. This was the best ever display of fast bowling in sub continent by Indians. Zaheer, Nehra and Praveen shared 7 wickets among themselves to expose the Sri Lankan Batting. All three of them achieved movement in air and off the seam. As Sangakara confessed, losing 4 wickets upright in first 15 overs was a disaster. But the turning point was Kandamby’s runout off a no ball. It summed up the whole day. Earlier, Dinesh Karthik anchored Indian innings to a challenging 268. Karthik playing as a specialist batsman also collected the Man of the Match award. Ashish Nehra won the Lord of the Match award for his 4 wickets in 9 overs for just 40 runs.

Shahid Afridi won the Man of the Series award for his two centuries against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Unfortunately he could neither defeat their arch rivals India, nor could help Pakistan qualify for the finals. An award difficult to swallow.
