At last, after all the politics of changing the IPL from India, IPL-2 kicked off today at 4 o clock. The match was between the runners up of IPL-1 and costliest team in IPL.

Dhoni won the toss and elected to bowl, Sachin was also happy with Dhoni’s decision. Mumbai Indians opened their batting with Jayasuriya and Sachin Tendulkar, where as Chennai opened their attack with Goni, by the way Dhoni took a break from keeping while Parthiv Patel replaced him.

sachinJayasuriya and Sachin were as always brilliant, so brilliant that even a street dog was unable to stop herself from not running into the ground, which wasted some time. Hayden dropped Sachin in the slips which made Chennai super kings pay, since no one could get his wicket until 20th over. Later, Jayasuriya got out; with scoreboard reading: 39 for 1 in 5.5 overs; to Thusara at mid wicket, Hayden caught it. He made 26 out of 20 balls with 5 fours in it. Then came Dhawan, who made 22 of 20 balls and gave his wicket to Goni and Dhoni caught him, while Sachin was still batting on the other end cautiously. Later came Duminy, who did not survive long, was out for 9 runs to Goni caught and bold) then came Bravo, who also did not last long and was out for 5 runs, bowled by Joginder Sharma and caught by Hayden. Score was 102 for 4 at 14.2 overs. Later, Abhishek Nayar came to the crease along side Sachin, the star of Mumbai Indians in the previous season, made a quick 35 of just 14 balls with 2 fours and 3 sixes, those we the only sixes of the match. He got out to Jacob Oram at 148/5 in 18.1 overs. Whilst, Sachin was stiff at the other end, making a slow but important 59 out of 49 balls with a four of the last ball of the innings.

Key Analysis: Dhoni’s decision of bowling looked like it was right until 15 overs, when Nayar came to the crease and flipped the situation, whilst, Sachin was hanging-on on the other end. Mumbai Indians scored 165 for 7 wickets in 20 overs.

Mumbai Indians started their of with Malinga, while Chennai super kings opened with Hayden andmalinga Parthiv Patel who got out in very second ball of match to Malinga and was caught by Sachin; 0 for 1 in 0.2 overs, after Patel, the stylist left hander, Raina came to the crease made a quick 8 and was caught on the boundary, by Raje, who caught it really well; 18 for 2 in 2.2 overs, In same over Hayden was dropped by the keeper Shah. Later, Fredy came to the crease and both Fredy and Hayden played good cricket, hitting the ball all over the park, at a point of time looked like, it would be  a cake walk for Chennai super kings to win the match, until Harbhajan came into the attack, the old rivalry between Hayden and Harbhajan was back. Later, fredy was caught and bowled by Bhajji; 70 for 3 in 9.5 overs. After fredy, Dhoni came to the crease, tried to steady the ship. Meanwhile, Hayden was out to Jayasuriya, Zaheer Khan caught it; Score 89 for 4 in 12.4 overs. Later came Oram to the crease, could not sustain longer and fell to Jayasuriya again, caught by the keeper; score: 101 for 5 in 14.3 overs. After Oram, Badrinath came and lasted only two balls 109 for 6 in 15.3 overs, later came Joginder, tried to win the match with his 16 runs in the end, but it was all too later when Dhoni was bowled by a terrific yorker from Malinga 144 for 7 in 19.4 overs. Chennai super kings 146 for 7 in 20 overs.

Cric Republic Match analysis: Fredy’s wicket was crucial, since then, all the wickets were falling quickly. Dhoni could not retain his lucky charm this time around. Of course, this one match does’nt writes them off, they can fight their way back. While for Mumbai, good start
for ipl-2 not like the previous year, Sachin was crucial, great boost of confidence for Mumbai Indians. Mumbai Indians out played Chennai super kings.
