New Zealand beat Scotland in a flashing match filled with fours, sixes and rain. The required run rate for New Zealand was 12.86 and to chase 90 runs in 7 overs. Oh! when you thought 20-20 is the shortest format of international cricket, think over again because we just had a 7-7 over international cricket match. And guess what New Zealand surpassed the target with a run rate of 15.00 with one over remaining.

The crowd had a neck breaking experience as they had to look up only at the skies. Firstly, waiting for the rains to stop and then the ball flying along in all directions. Mc Cullum and Ryder shared a first wicket partnership of 51 runs in just 2.5 overs. Unbelievable stuff it was hitting the ball for 7 fours and 2 sixes. Taylor continued the run feast and hit two powerful sixes. A single bad over could cost the game in these small games, Scotland had plenty of them. Styris finished the match with last 3 balls going for 6,0,1.

Earlier Scotland put up a brave batting display and looked set for the second major upset until the 6.3 overs of their innings. The managed to score 89 in 6.3 overs and remained at 89 after 7 overs as last 3 balls cost Scotland 3 wickets without fetching any runs. The impressive Ian Butler, also the man of the match being the cause for the casualuty. Earlier Watson(27), Poonia(27), Coetzer(33) played wonderfully wel to propel their side to a competitive total. But losing Poonia  and Coetzer at the end cost them a good 10 runs short. Added to this the poor fielding and bowling display did no good for the Scotland side.
