The last one month has seen the world grip in Football Fever and Dancing Waka Waka over it. Spain lifted the trophy for first time, Dutch lose out third time in finals ofcourse with 8 yellow cards and 1 red card. But the real show stealer was neither a striker nor the goal keeper, but an aquatic species in Germany named “Paul Octopus”. Its 7 on 7 perfect predictions generated thousands of enemies (Furious Germans and Dutch), millions of admirers (Spanish) and billions of Sympathisers (Rest of the World). Poor paul would not have in its wildest of dreams imagined that the sumptuos food clad in colourful flags it selected would make or break so many hearts.

If it all could have been decided in an aquarium, what was the need in organising a month long gala event. What is more strange is the amount of media attention the predictions recieved. The print and visual media were more inclined to paul’s predictions than the actual match. Paul may bask in its glory for some time now, which it is probably unaware of. But it is only a matter of time before it runs out of luck.

So dont be surprised if you get to hear about a Paul Elephant or a Paul Shark, in the next edition of IPL. You know its only to fill up the time slots and empty columns of your NEWS feeders. Paul Octopus on IPL, Eh not again !!!
