Riders are back to Ride IPL2

Kolkata Knight Riders:

The Knight Riders are back to bang this IPL, with a new concept and theory. The Bollywood King Shah Rukh Khan’s KKR selected New Zealand batsman Brendon McCullum as new captain of the team on Wednesday. John Buchanan, coach of KKR introduced the concept multiple captaincy for the tournament. This laid a controversy among Indian fans of Sourav, but Coach John Buchanan was happy with the team, as he took the decision after a discussion with the Sourav Ganguly. The concept of multiple captaincy sounds good as one captain deals with say bowling and other with fielding, but let us see how well it works on field. The first match of KKR is with Hyderabad Deccan Chargers on 19th April at Cape Town, S.A.

A little History:

Kolkota Knight Riders is one of eight teams participating in the Indian Premier League and was created in 2008 as a joint venture between King Khan ‘Shah Rukh’, Jai Mehta and Juhi Chawla. ‘Sourav Ganguly’ was the captain of the team. The team had a powerful start; Berdon McCullum opening batsman scored 158 runs in the first match, which is a record for the highest runs in a Twenty-20 match till now. But soon the performance degraded in the following matches. Overall the team played well and was positioned 6th in IPL 2008. And financially, KKR was the most successful team achieving a profit of about 12-13 crores.

New Concept, new Controversy and its Results:

The new concept of multiple captaincy and removal of Dada ‘Sourav Ganguly’ from the captaincy has led a kind of protest against the KKR team and SRK. On Friday fans of Dada blamed, burnt the posters of the bollywood superstar and owner of Kolkota Knight Riders ‘Shah Rukh Khan’. Fans say no one else can replace Dada, as he is the best in team. Apart from the protest mentioned above there was a huge reaction and responses of the fans of Dada, few of them are like:

• “To ban the upcoming movies of SRK in kolkota”
• “This was a kind of big game played by the owner of the team” as they announced the new concept after they left to S.A.
• “Why a foreigner is kept as a captain”
