Story of the Week: Yuvraj Dhoni Chemistry

Talent flourishes in pairs. Azharuddin – Jadeja, Sachin – Sourav, Dravid – Laxman, Sehwag – Sachin and now Dhoni – Yuvraj. India’s recent tour of West Indies was a successful and satisfying one for its belligerent captain Dhoni. India won the series 2-1 after the fourth ODI was washed out. The series had two heroes who stood out from the rest, Yuvraj in first and Dhoni in second and third. Yuvraj’s over the imaginative 131 runs literally put the chase beyond West Indies. Although the hosts threatened to chase it down but ended up falling short by 20 runs. The victory was all more significant because West Indies knocked India out of the T20 world cup, and the revenge was completed. But West Indies did the unexpected they returned like wounded tigers and the results were immediately visible when India was tottering at 82 for 8. The West Indian bowlers left the Indians smelling leather with some impressive short-pitch stuff. But then Dhoni was not to surrender without a fight. His mental toughness and cricketing wisdom were on display, He scored a valiant 95 to get India to a respectable total. Dhoni knew the dynamics well in advance for the rain interrupted third ODI. It took a magical Six in the last over from Dhoni to seal the series. Dhoni has been well supported by his deputy Yuvraj in a bid to salvage some pride for Team India. It’s a reeling effect on the Indian fans when Dhoni and Yuvraj are together on the crease.
